The Alameda Marina Master Plan wins Merit Award

The Alameda Marina Master Plan won a Merit Award for Comprehensive Plan from the American Planning Association, California Chapter, Northern Section.
“The purpose of the American Planning Association, California Chapter, Northern Section Awards Program is to encourage quality in planning and increase the public’s awareness of the planning profession through recognizing outstanding achievement in the planning field. Each year, the Northern Section bestows Planning Awards to honor the most outstanding efforts in planning in the Section. The program honors innovative plans and projects, distinguished APA members, and lay contributors to planning and achievements of the Northern Section.”

This revised and Re-issued Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeks submittals from fully qualified parties for the economically feasible design and operation of the Project. Location: Alameda Marina – Alameda, CA
The approval is the culmination of more than two years of true collaboration between the City, the community and the developer of the Marina.

In a 5-0 vote, the Alameda Planning Board unanimously approved the Alameda Marina master plan and adopted the EIR, moving the proposal forward to city council in July.

Planning Board Subcommittee Receives Feedback to Master Plan and PSI Board Member, Sabrina Svendsen, Clears Up Myths about Tenancy
On Monday, June 12, the City of Alameda will hold a public hearing to consider changes to the Alameda Marina Master Plan to reflect the community’s feedback, and include improvements to the maritime commercial components of the plan and more effort to preserve opportunities for a future boatyard and some of the existing structures, including the graving dock. As a result of these changes, the updated Master Plan includes an additional 90 housing units, bringing the total number of new units to 760.
We hope you will come to this meeting to share your support for this revised plan and the added housing it will bring to Alameda.

On April 19, the Alameda City Council conducted a workshop as a follow-up to the Vice Mayor’s referral about zoning for the Northern Waterfront and staff’s recommended guidelines for master planning. You can watch the meeting here. After hearing public comment, the Council discussed the guidelines and did not adopt any changes to the zoning, or special guidelines for property owners.
In advance of the April 19th Council hearing, Alameda Marina submitted this letter to the Alameda City Council.

On January 16, 2016, Sean Svendsen resigned his position as President of Pacific Shops, Inc. (PSI). We wish Sean well with all future endeavors. PSI is still owned by the Svendsen Family Trust and Bill and Mary Poland Family Trust and Bill Poland remains chairman of the PSI board.
Effective January 19, 2016, Brock de Lappe is no longer associated with Alameda Marina. We thank Mr. de Lappe for his years of service to the Marina.
Alameda Marina is pleased to name Paul Houtz as its new Harbor Master. Paul has been involved with the Marina for more than four years and will lead a team, already in place at the Marina, with more than 60 years of combined experience in property and marina management.

On Wednesday, November 18, we hosted tenants and neighbors of Alameda Marina for a series of exploratory meetings about the future of the marina. We thank everyone who came to these meetings – the first of a long series of conversations – and shared your thoughts.
